The Cervelo Aspero

Words by Prologue Cycling on 06/06/2020 12:04:19

The conversation on if it's possible to have one bike that does everything is frequently discussed at Prologue.

Heated debate in recent years has found itself become a light hearted chat with a mutual understanding thanks to the introduction of the Gravel Bike. Acceptance from those previously resistant to change is now hot topic discussion in the form of which one bike do you now choose. Everyone has their favourites with the BMC URS being the choice of the off road rider and the Cervelo Aspero, the choice for the roadie. The bike in question today is the Cervelo Aspero.

In short, the Cervelo Aspero is a blisteringly fast aero Gravel Bike which to the road rider, will immediately feel familiar and build confidence.

Its simplistic design houses some very subtle but very effective aerodynamic profiles and with a painted frame weight of just 1,110g you know the Aspero will be hugely efficient under power. The designers considered all possibilities with the Aspero and have made the full carbon fork adjustable to suit 700c and 650b wheelsets. The 700c option allows the rider to fit up to 42mm tires with 650b stretching to a massive 49mm, more than enough for any rider of this bike. Initially our concerns were if Cervelo had thought about the road riders enough to accommodate a road groupset should the mood take us and we are pleased to say, yes. With a very nicely designed front mech mounting system you can fit both SRAM and Shimano 2x Gearing on the Aspero.

Without getting too techy, the Cervelo Aspero is a bike you can ride 20 miles at pace to the forest. Blast round the forest quicker than anyone else there and then ride home without so much as a bike change.

We love this thing!
